🐕 This past month, my dog (and best friend), Molly, and I completed St Jude’s 50 Mile (cumulative) Dog Walk Fundraiser Challenge. We actually accumulated *75* miles throughout the month of February and we raised a couple hundred dollars.
🏆 It’s funny because I used to be an endurance runner/junkie and I competed in 50 & 100 mile mountain races. My fastest 50 mile time was something like 10 Hours. Molly and I completed this challenge over 1 month (albeit, the shortest month in the year). We may even be at the top of the leaderboard for sniffs, rolling in the snow, and some of the slowest mile times (45 minutes).
Things are different. But better. I’ve changed. I don’t have the endurance, stamina, or speed that I used to when I was an ultra-runner. But my miles with Molly are some of the best miles + mountains I’ve ever experienced 🚶🏻♀️
☀️ Getting outside and walking with Molly everyday is the best anti-depressant for me 💊 Snow, wind, or sun… We never miss a day. It keeps me sane- it’s some of my best thinking/creation or prayer time. It also helps me stay healthy, and supports my daily movement.
And I’m no longer OCD about hitting “even” mileage. IYKYK. For all you other cardio geeks who sometimes run thru the parking lot at the end of your run just to hit your mileage- I see you. I was you 😜
For me and my coaching team, fitness is not just about being STRONG in the gym. It’s about being STRONG outside of the gym too. For me, this means being strong enough to go for walks and hikes up mountains with my pup (and husband). It also means being emotionally + spiritually strong, knowing my self-worth, and showing up and serving others daily 💪🏼
You see, the least interesting thing about me is my appearance. And the most interesting thing about me is my sense of adventure and purpose.
🌸 🌸 One of my clients, Jordan, recently graduated from Coaching, after 2+ years of working with me. On our last call we both shed some tears. It is bittersweet. I am sad saying goodbye to her as a client, but so happy that she’s ready to “fly” solo. It was incredible to witness her amazing transformation and evolution into a stronger, more confident, all-around badass 🌸 🌸
Over two years she improved her relationship with food, fitness, and her body image. And the last thing she said to me on our call was that she wanted to continue to live a life where she gets enough sleep, feels good everyday, and doesn’t feel restrictive or miserable. She said there is so much more to life than the way she looks or what the number on the scale is.
❤️ Amen!
